About Us

Your Trust is Our Greatest Incentive!

At WHYS, we are committed to promoting health equity and empowering individuals to take control of their health through clinical excellence, cultural competence and racial concordance.

We recognize the critical importance of representation in our specialty, particularly for communities of color. We have great pride in highlighting the legacy of Granny Midwifes, our foremothers, who established a cultural model of care for Black obstetricians and gynecologists.

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, (AAMC), only 2.7% of OB/GYN physicians are black, and this small but mighty group is carrying on the legacy of black midwives who provided essential care to their communities during a time of significant racial and socioeconomic inequality.

Representation matters, and we are committed to supporting and uplifting black healthcare professionals who continue to make a significant impact on the health of their communities. Through our network at WHYS, we aim to create a more equitable healthcare system that reflects the diversity of the communities it serves.

We believe that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, and we are dedicated to making that a reality for our patients, by providing resources, education, and support. We hope to empower our community to take control of their health and advocate for their well-being. We believe that everyone has the right to live a healthy and fulfilling life, and we will continue to work towards a future where that is possible for all.
